The fact that some of Macaque's "clones" are so weirdly affectionate of Wukong and MK only serves to confuse them more. Like, it gets to the point that every time Macaque appears in S1-S3, the two little shadows can and will tackle either Wukong or MK for cuddles. In the scene where Macaque attacks them while in Sandy's airship and is focusing entirely on MK because he now knows Wukong is pregnant, the cubs have the job of keeping Wukong occupied and they do so by, what else, pinning himnto the ground like Baba-Macaque wants and full on nuzzling and purring as they don't get to see 'Wukong-Mama" a lot because Baba is so mad/sad whenever Wukong comes into conversation altho it doesn't stop him and them from spying on Wukong-Mama from a the shadows. MK and Mei are fighting for their lives in the episode where they get separated, and Rumble and Savage are hanging around Pigsy, Tang, and Wukong and enjoying seeing him acting so silly with Amnesia. It's only during the Lantern City Talent Show that Wukogn realizes they aren't just weirdly affectionate clones.
Prev post.
these clones do seem to pin/tackle Wukong a lot.
I imagine in the SlowBoiled au - the tackling is a little more gentle given what Macaque knows by then. Wukong def notices that the two clones are still very affectionate to him and MK - and has his suspicions all the way back during S1.
In S3 when the gang gets separated; Macaque instructs the "clones" (even he's figured out that not true) to stay with Wukong while he chases MK. The Twins are delighted! Papa is giving them time to spend with Wukong-Mama! Clearly, their plans to repair the troop is working.
Pigsy, Tang, and Mo quickly notice the two stowaways and at first react with fear/anger at their presence - only for the two Macaque-shaped shadows to cock their heads with confusion, chirping like baby monkeys as they shrink to the size of cats. Wukong had already been in astral meditation at this point, so he's not able to recognise the twins' presence, even as they curl on his crossed legs and pick through his fur. The twins hoot sadly, thinking that their new "Mama" is ignoring them.
As Pigsy and Tang try to wrap their heads around the situation, the twins accidentally wake Wukong from his meditation, trying to get his attention. Tang is ofc kidnapped by Scorpion Queen in the confusion. Wukong awakens, memory fractured, and sees what he thinks is part of his Pilgrim troop, and a pair of unfamiliar baby monkeys.
Amnesiac!Wukong: "Oh! When did you two get here? You smell awfully familiar." (*sniff sniff*) "Macaque! You smell like him! Did he send you ahead to make peace?" Rumble & Savage: (*delighted chattering!*) Amnesiac!Wukong, with a wistful/worried tone: "Oh plums... do you... have a mama? Or another parent?" Rumble & Savage: (*look between each other, confused. Both shake their heads and leap into Wukong's arms, chattering a short explanation*) Amnesiac!Wukong, shocked: "Ehh?! He brought you into this world himself?! Then he managed what I've been trying to do! No wonder he sent you to find me! Oh I'm so happy!" Rumble & Savage: (*chirp a cautious question*) Amnesiac!Wukong, smiling: "Of course! I'd be delighted to be your Mama! I can't wait for Macaque to arrive so we can all be together as a family! The Stalwarts will be so glad!" (*Wukong cuddles the twins tight, all three monkeys purring*) Pigsy: "Err... Monkey? "Master" is still missing." Wukong, sighs: "Okay... c'mon cubs, I need to save Master Tripitaka. He's like the head of our troop. I can introduce you to everyone properly once we get him back." Rumble & Savage: (*cling to Wukong's front and back, chirping with excitement!*)
The rest of the Amnesia Rules episode becomes more focused on Wukong's interactions with the Pilgrims, and how he's at his core a gentle, motherly monkey. Pigsy sees a side of Wukong he never knew existed.
Once Wukong's memory returns, he is very confused by the baby shadow monkeys clinging to him, calling him "Mama". He sniffs and looks them over in Gold-Vision (the twins giggling the whole time), and with a shocked expression declares;
Wukong: "Macaque brought these two back from Diyu!" Tang: "What?! Is that even possible?!" Wukong, thinking hard: "It shouldn't be. Unless... they were hanging around the Underworld, unable to reincarnate because..." (*suddenly gets really sad/guilty look on his face*) Pigsy: "Because how?" Wukong: "If they weren't registered in the Book of the Dead... or if someone accidentally erased their names as he was going through the list of monkey demons..." Tang: (*covers gasp as he realises*) Rumble & Savage: (*confused chirps?*) Wukong: "I'm so sorry babies. I don't know why Macaque brought you back with him, but I'm glad he did. He's always had a soft spot for cubs. I hope in a... weird way, that this is a sign that he wants to repair things." Rumble & Savage: (*delighted chirping & hugging Wukong as they chatter about their "Papa"*) Wukong, chuckling smugly: "Oh really? He's been saying that about me? I just knew he couldn't get me out of his head." Rumble & Savage, both mimicking Mac's voice: "Peaches!" Wukong, slight blush forming: "He still calls me that?" Pigsy, Tang, & Mo: (*shared looks of confusion*)
Once the gang reunites after catching up with the Demon Bull family, MK sees the twins and splutters out;
MK: "Monkey King! They're-!" Wukong, twins clinging to him: "It's ok MK. They're just little demon monkeys. Macaque picked himself up some strays while he was in the Underworld. And super cute ones, might I add!" (*blows raspberries on the twins' faces*) Rumble & Savage: (*delighted giggling/shrieking*) MK, Mei, & Sandy: (*look to the others for an explanation*) Pigsy, shrugs: "He's good with kids."
Pigsy ofc starts to recognise some similarities to how the twin monkeys act, and how MK was when he was little. But that can of worms can be opened later. Now they've got Rings to gather and a bone demon to defeat.
Lantern City doesn't go as smooth as planned for Macaque. LBD has figured out that his two "persistent clones" aren't actual clones, and threatens them as collateral to get Macaque to comply.
The twin baby monkeys shriek when they glimpse at the Samadhi Fire. Almost as if they've seen it before...

Bi-han: "you disrespectful runt!" *holds hanzo up by the scruff*
Tomas coming from around the corner: "Bi-han! What are you doing!?" *runs over and scoops up a now crying Hanzo*
Tomas, glaring at a shocked Bi-han: "You cannot be rough with him, he is just a boy!"
Bi-han: "I wasn't-" *Tomas raises his hand, not wanting to hear it. He soothes a sniffling Hanzo as he walks away*
Tomas: "Hush Hanzo, do not worry, you are safe" *Hanzo nods as he wipes away fake tears. He makes sure to stick his tongue out at a speechless Bi-Han as they round the corner*

The End
No these beginnings will never have anything to do with the story. Except for this one i guess
Did you know that The Lady Bone Demon never actually lies? Well, that was a fun idea to play with for the third installment of the “Everything is exactly the same but The Lady Bone Demon destroys everyone with facts and logic”!
As Xiaotian scanned his surroundings, he also made time to wipe his forehead free of sweat.
The Spider Queen’s lair was unsurprisingly hot, as it was kind of a sewer. All he needed to do was find Pigsy his precious sign and get out of there.
The thought was all so simple- until an eerie, cold breeze brushed by his ear.
His head immediately perked up, a shiver grazing the hair on his arms and neck, searching for the source.
Lo and behold- walking by him with the grace of an ancient empress and the footsteps of a shadow was a young girl- dressed in traditional clothing, and ignoring him in full.
It took a moment for him to understand what had just happened, and as soon as he did, the time he took wiping off his sweat became useless as he stumbled after her.
“H-Hey!” He called, tripping over himself and his words as he attempted to keep up with the dark-haired girl. “Wait up!”
For a person with such short legs, she walked incredibly fast.
She cleanly ignored his request, as if she didn’t hear him at all. Instead, she continued on her merry way. She certainly seemed to be fine, but Xiaotian still didn’t feel right about leaving a kid unattended in a sewer that housed murderous spider demons.
“Kid!” He yelled after her, only to be ignored again. He scrambled to catch up to her, but only managed to do so when she suddenly stopped.
He awkwardly ran up after her, resting his hands on his knees as he painted heavily from the exhausting run. If not for the bizarre chill that seemed to follow the girl, he would have passed out from the heat by now.
“How…” he heaved, “Are you so…. FAST!?”
Again, she said nothing, stepping forward a few steps to gaze ahead of her.
He looked up, following her gaze. A gasp escaped his throat, but even he wasn’t sure what it was out of- horror? Or something as simple as surprise?
In front of him was a large golden chain tree, but carved or otherwise into the wood was a very real, very humanoid skeleton, with a ringlet hanging loosely on the skull that looked dangerously similar to the Monkey King’s cursed crown.
There were bright red Spider Lilies creeping out of the eye sockets, as if imitating blood red eyes.
He stumbled back at the sight of the enormous tree, which certainly had not been there the last several times he’d been to Spider Queen’s lair.
“W-what is this?” He asked no one in particular as he caught himself to keep from falling out of shock, the very sight of the tree haunting him.
He didn’t necessarily expect a response from the girl- only to find that for the first time, he received one.
“This is the end,” she said, tilting her head full of dark hair upwards, as if to admire the tree, before repeating the action, this time to the side. “And the beginning.”
She turned back to him, innocent dark eyes that didn’t at all fit her hardened expression observing him with intrigue. “Did he not tell you that?”
A shiver ran up his spine, making the hair on his neck stand on end at not just her words, but merely the sound of her voice.
“H-He…?” He managed to choke out. “Who… who’s he…?”
A smirk that befit a demoness of some kind graced the young girl’s delicate features. She turned back to look at the tree. “Why, him, of course.”
Xiaotian’s heart trembled in his body.
The first person that came to mind when he saw the insidious tree called both the end and the beginning was for certain his currently M.I.A master and teacher- but what could this child (or this tree, for that matter) possibly have to do with the Monkey King?
“So you really know nothing?” She hummed, tracing the trunk of the tree. “How unfortunate.”
Xiaotian took a cautious step back, holding his staff in front of him defensively as she turned around fully to face him, a placid, cool as ice smile on her face.
If Xiaotian didn’t know any better, he’d say that her eyes were aglow with an eerie blue.
“What…” he trailed off, before focusing on the girl intensively. Just like Monkey King taught you, he thinks. “What do you mean, the end?”
She expression changes only a little, with her eyes narrowing as she chuckles a little.
“Do you seek to ensure I cause no harm to any people, young Prince?” She said with a slight hum. “But can you save people from themselves?”
“What are you talking about it?” He knots his eyes together, before dropping low into a defensive position. “Who are you?”
“If you want to know,” Her eyes are aglow with a dangerous glint as she turns to her side, hands folded behind her back. “Come and find me.”
With her final dare, she turns away once more, walking straight through the tree. It dissipates as she walks through, revealing it to be an illusion- but once the tree is nothing but blue, glowing ashes lingering in the air, she is nowhere to be found.
The empty torches that had seemingly been untouched for years suddenly alit, blue fire illuminating a path in the darkness.
Whispers followed him as he silently creeped forward, following the blue torchlight into the totally-not-creepy-at-all tunnel.
“Dark clouds crowding heaven,” he heard, “Consume all that dares glow,” another voice trailed along the wall. “Bleed into the sky,”
“And let your shadow grow.”
It got to the point where he resorted to holding the staff in the crook of his arm as he covered his ears, not wanting to hear another word.
Finally, he was back into what he’d begun calling the “common room” of Spider Queen’s lair. He gasped momentarily, searching the room for any sign of the spider demons, but they were nowhere to be found.
Instead, there was only the same strange girl, staring up at a large… diagram, of sorts. It depicted a large mech the likes of which he’d never seen. He pointed his staff at her back.
“Well?” She asked, as if already having had sensed his presence. “Is the would-be hero going to attack me or not? I await your attempt.”
Pushing off on his right foot with an empowering yell, he heeded her request, brandishing his staff.
Before he could get any closer to hitting her, she vanished from view, teleporting it seemed, out of his way. Instead, his staff was dangerously close to hitting some sort of mirror instead.
His reflection in the mirror flipped through many different perspectives, but all told him the same thing, and all looked utterly terrified.
“Stop- don’t- RUN- What are you doing!?” They all seemed to be pulling out their hair, and Xiaotian quickly stumbled back, backing away from the mirror- or rather…?
“Hold on,” he whispered. “This is the trigram furnace! What is this doing here?”
To be fair, he did kind of forget about it in the whole spider demon… ordeal. He forced himself to focus. This was no time to fool around. “Trust you instincts,” he muttered to himself, blinking on his gold vision.
He turned to face the girl.
And what he saw was anything but.

Sooo I had a AU idea, I'm calling it "eclipsed king AU" and it's kind of a cannon divergence swap au of sorts. Basically something goes different in macaque and wukongs fight during jttw and MK gets trained by a macaque that never died :]
What happened to wukong? Well he sure didn't die, he's too immortal for that. Tho Mk and Macaque surr consider him dead and more than that I won't mention.. yet.

Silly question: what does MK's family think of his alternate personality clones like Porty?
Silly follow up: Do any of them have divergent clones like that?
So far, XiaoXiao only has one divergent clone, who everyone calls Little Shade (Porty is working on an official name for the guy). He's very quiet later on in his existence... went through a lot. So far Porty calls him "Lil" and if he is out and about, he demands Lil is too. They work best together.
MK at this point has Porty. He's quite the opposite of MK in many aspects, but he still has a good heart and is a good person, so his family are pretty warm to him. Though they certainly worry about the choices he makes 0.0
At this point, for Taken anyway, these are the only two that exist for the Divergent clones between the two :3

This is why!

This also means he’s finally gotten that purple hair swag I’ve been hyping y’all up about!

[MK X READER] New Era - Chapter .001
Note: Will use events from Mk9-11 + Aftermath. I am changing canon for some characters to fit the story. Changing canon in general for MK1, so at some point I will add in scenes not in the main story and probably will diverge from it in the end. Some character personality changes, not major, but enough to add depth. Slight character dynamic changes (Mostly Lin Kuei, so the trio feel slightly closer as a whole)
Also excuse the small exposition dump that happens through the chapter, it was needed to set up plot points in the future, so in the future we can get to those juicy character interactions easier!
LOVE INTERESTS: Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Kenshi, Reptile, Scorpion (Kuai Liang), Sub Zero (Bi-Han), Smoke, Shang Tsung, Mileena, Kitana, Ashrah, Havik, Rain
Also on AO3: NEW ERA
part two
FROM THE EYES OF ONE WHO DOESN'T REMEMBER
Memories are fickle things.
Awakening in the middle of a field, you heard the buzzing of bugs, and the grass beside you moved as a creature scurried past. Your head hurt, and a fog settled in your mind as if it were blocking something. You sat up slowly, noting the moonlight shining down on the area around you.
You looked down at your hands. It was odd, it felt like you were familiar with it, yet at the same time it felt all too foreign to you. You wiggled your toes, feeling the grass brush against them to remind you that they existed.
Where were you?
Swallowing any dread you felt building up, you stood up wearily. Your body swayed as you got up, almost stumbling into the grass once more. The area around felt devoid of humans, undisturbed nature spreading far. It was beautiful and breathtaking, but it only soothed you for a moment before panic began to seep back in again.
Where were you?
In the distance was a soft light. A flame? Perhaps. You dragged your feet as you walked towards it. You’d rather go discover whatever that was then stick around being lost wherever you had woken up.
Why were you there in the first place?
Fear was crawling down your back at the inability to answer the nagging questions within your head. Shaking it off, you continued on. The closer you got, the better you could identify where the flame was from.
A temple of sorts?
It had a dragon motif from what you could see, and it was constructed mainly from wood and stone. Red shingles, or at least you assumed it was…it was hard to see in the moonlight, lined the rooftops of the temple ahead. The tree leaves even seemed to be red. There were multiple buildings, one being a tall tower, and a few smaller buildings. The flame, which was quite large from what you could see, was lit in a pavilion of sorts.
Your mind throbbed as a vague memory of a temple floating in the sky appeared in your mind. But this wasn’t that same temple. Not at all. Why were you thinking of that?
Soon enough, you found yourself at the entrance of the area, marveling at the architecture and the beauty of the area up close. How wonderful. Eventually, you spotted two figures walking towards you.
The first thing you noticed was their glowing blue eyes.
Not knowing what to do, you stood there. Although you felt a pit of dread build up in your stomach as they approached, you stood unwavering. You grimaced, not at the sight of them, but at how the figures coming closer seemed to intensify a dull throb that had been building up in the back of your head.
Silly as it was, were they the cause of your headache? Of the fog in your head that seemed to block out any memories you tried to pry from your mind?
You watched as the two figures, that you could now identify as men, approached. You could read a vague sense of concern on one of their faces, and the other held a sense of shock on his. They walked over a bridge, stopping at the top as if to create a sense of height. You looked up at them, your will not wavering despite the dread that was building in your stomach.
Your headache, why was it hurting so much?
You watched as one of them held out his hands, forming one a fist connecting to his palm. He smiled at you. It felt warm. The other nodded his head in acknowledgement, but you could see the small smile he had as well. You stumbled as your headache turned into a sharp pain, as if someone had just stabbed your head. Gasping, you stumbled forward.
The man who had been presenting his hands grabbed you to steady you, and you noted the strange sense of familiarity as he did so. His wrapped hands were firm as he helped you right yourself. You looked up into his eyes, and without thinking, a name popped into your head.
Liu Kang?”
The dread you felt in your stomach turned into fear as the man’s eyes widened, and the vague shock that had been on his face before was now on full display. He glanced over to his companion who held the same look of shock before they both looked down at you, almost accusingly.
“How did you know that?”
That was years ago.
Shortly after the shock had worn off, you had been escorted into the fire temple. They gave you a place to rest for the night, but you could hear the whispers of Liu Kang and Geras as they walked away. What they were discussing, you weren’t certain.
You could hear the concerned tone in their voice loud and clear despite that.
The next morning in what was perhaps the politest interrogation ever, it was revealed that you had a lack of memories.
Kind of.
You had memories, or at least you thought so, but they were all jumbled up in your head. They felt wrong, and foreign and they didn’t match up with what you were seeing. After all, your mind was telling you the man who was interrogating you was Liu Kang…but it was not the same mortal man that popped into your mind.
You also eventually recognized Geras, which seemed to alarm the two even more, even if they were subtle about it. Eventually, after long deliberation with each other, Liu Kang eventually came up to you and offered you a place to stay at the fire temple due to your lack of memory and residence.
You were relieved to have a place to rest and stay, even if you had a nagging feeling that the offer was a disguised excuse to keep a close eye on you.
You supposed that was fair.
Eventually, the memories you had came back slowly over the years, and you confided in Liu Kang about them. This led to an eventual friendship with the god as you unraveled the strange situation that you were in. The man, though cordial, had been wary at first of you. You thought that was reasonable. A random stranger showing up in rags and recognizing you without introduction?
That was suspicious for certain, you could not blame the fire god for his caution. Especially since he proclaimed himself to be the Protector of Earthrealm, you could have easily been a threat.
Thankfully, you were not. Or at least, he seemed to deem that you were not. Although you had a jumbled mess of mismatching memories, the two of you had concluded that the memories you did have were visions of sorts, of other realities, and that the memories you used to have were gone.
Visions of other worlds traded for the memories of your past. That’s what he told you, anyways. You had a sinking feeling that wasn’t quite true, and that was the biggest secret you held from Liu Kang. After all, the more memories you regained, the less it felt that they were random visions.
They felt like a past life…and maybe they were. You weren’t certain yet. You had a nagging feeling there were many memories left to unlock.
The guilt of hiding this doubt, this secret, was immense at first. Ignoring the fact that you were lying to a god, you were concealing doubts from a man who had offered you shelter and food.
Eventually the guilt died down into near nothingness, but there was still a twinge of guilt every time you lied about it.
Aside from that, you rediscovered abilities that you had not realized you had.
Shapeshifting into animals. You could transform your whole body into creatures, or parts of them. It was a helpful power, you found. You also seemed to have some sort of muscle memory of fighting skills. Lord Liu Kang had once offered to train you, and to both of your surprise, you were quite skilled.
Rusty at first, but it was obvious your body knew how to fight. It was nothing that years, or in all honesty, months could not fix.
Another ability you realized after a few years was how your body did not seem to age. Or at least, not in the same way humans did. At first, the monks seemed to chalk it up to good genetics, complimenting on how you seemed to keep your youth. However, as more years passed, whispers of magic arose.
Concerned with the strange state of your body, you confided in the fire god. Liu Kang suggested that your body was one that lived longer, perhaps of one that was not native to Earth, or Earthrealm as he called it…an edenian, perhaps? He explained the realm of Outworld, and the existence of the realms in general. He had once explained it much before, along with some monks, but not to the historical extent he had given you at that time.
Through these explanations, you remembered Outworld much more clearly, but the memories of Outworld were once again inconsistent with the world he described.
The Outworld you knew had been run by a tyrant before it was passed to an heir that had been overthrown. It was war hungry, and not at all pretty as he described. Liu Kang offered that, perhaps, when the Mortal Kombat tournament rolled around in a few years, you could join him and the champions he would bring to Outworld.
You agreed, of course. Maybe that realm was key to unlocking more memories, and more explanations. Even though you cherished the Fire Temple, a place you had learned to call home, you now had a purpose going forward.
Go to Outworld to seek the rest of your memories.
And now, you were here, enjoying another peaceful morning in the Fire Temple.
Staring out from the pavilion, you inhaled deeply as you took in the sunrise. You could never tire of the beautiful view. Your ears picked up the soft sound of someone walking towards you, and you turned around, already familiar with who it was.
“Hello, Liu Kang.” You greeted, a smile on your face as you nodded towards the fire god. The fire god sent you a soft smile in return as he walked up to be by your side. Due to your memories of a younger, mortal Liu Kang that had popped up so often at first, you had taken up a nasty habit of addressing him casually. You tried to fix this, but he had permitted you to address him casually in private.
It felt like a strange honor.
He greeted you, your name rolling off his tongue in a familiar way as his hands settled on the railing much like yours were. It was common for the two of you to meet up here at sunrise, to indulge in the simple yet breathtaking view. It was a tradition from years ago.
“Beautiful morning, isn’t it?” Liu Kang inquired, much like he did nearly every morning. He gazed at the horizon with a sense of serenity and peace before his glowing eyes landed on you. With a chuckle you turned your gaze to the horizon he had been staring at previously.
“It is, just like it is every morning.” You mused, watching as the sky lightened, the darkness making way for the pretty light blue hues as a pink and orange color settled over the horizon. Your fingers tapped the wood as you hummed, remembering that something special was happening today. “Today we’re going to the village of Fengjian, correct?” You inquired, a surge of excitement buzzing through you.
You had been around the world here and there over the years to accompany Liu Kang and sometimes even the Lin Kuei, but it had been a while since your last venture.
“Correct, Madam Bo said two of her trainees were ready for the exam scenario, and today we're going to observe.” Liu Kang said, nodding as he confirmed the plans he had told you about two weeks ago. You noted how he kept his gaze intent on you, as if analyzing your reaction. You could not hold back the smile on your lips.
“Excellent, it’s been forever since I’ve had Madam Bo’s cooking.” You commented, remembering just how delicious the older woman’s cooking was. You were nearly drooling at the thought of it. Not only that, but Madam Bo was someone you valued as well.
Whenever you saw her, you were reminded of a fatherly figure who you hazily remembered who drunk a lot of alcohol. It was odd, but she too must have sensed the connection, as she took you in as if you were a child of her own ever since she met you. You wished you could go out to see her more.
You opened your mouth to speak, but you heard the faintest of footsteps. Reflexively, you transformed your ears into those of bats and craned them around to hone in on the sound. You tilted your head as you focused before you turned to look at Liu Kang, ears turning back to normal.
“I thought the Lin Kuei were to come later?” You inquired, revealing that you were now aware of their presence. You heard some muttering before the three assassins revealed themselves. Sub Zero, Scorpion, and Smoke. Three of the Lin Kuei you had grown closest to during your association with Liu Kang.
“That was the plan, but we decided to meet up earlier to discuss the plan as we shall leave earlier to get in position to observe.” Liu Kang explained. The two of you turned around to face the three. You smiled at the three. Smoke and Scorpion both bowed to the two of you. Sub Zero, notably, did not, but you did notice the slight nod of acknowledgement sent your way.
“Perceptive as always, and I thought we could finally sneak up on you.” Smoke greeted, addressing you as he spoke your name, a light playful tone to his voice. Smoke was always the friendliest of the three, it was a delight to talk to him. He was the most casual. You noted the slightly irritated glare from Sub Zero sent his way.
You surmised that Smoke had managed to convince the two others to also sneak in. You could not tell whether the irritation was from having to partake in such a silly endeavor, or if it was due to the fact that he blamed Smoke for giving the three of them away.
“Maybe another time, Tomas.” You chuckled, covering your mouth as you did so. Despite your words, you were competitive, and you weren’t planning on giving up in the ongoing game that you had both been playing for a while now. “Regardless, it is good to see you all, it’s been a while.” With that, you nodded towards Liu Kang, letting him go over the plan with the trio.
You observed silently as excitement coursed through your veins.
You had a feeling that tonight was going to be something special.

Btw before I sleep;
I have considered a divergent au from the "Nüwa and Fuxi are MK's bio parents" idea where MK, instead of inheriting mostly monkey genetics, took more after his mama and popped out a naga/lamia-like snake demon.
Bonus, MK's scales aren't emerald green like Nüwa's, but rather a mix of golden yellow and orange. Like autumn leaves, or egg noodles floating in spicy broth. His eyes are a very pretty brown-gold color with slitted pupils.
The Ultimate "Noodle Boy"!
Still has a demon monkey top-half. Wild brown fur all over his head, arms, and torso, and a body-length mohawk of fur going all the way down his snake tail.
Whoever made MK look human in canon def has a harder time hiding that part of him!
Pigsy finds the muddy baby outside his shop and it takes him a moment to realise that the kid wasn't wearing a thick skirt.
Pigsy, washing MK in the sink: "Poor little guy. Even your legs are- uh...?"
Baby MK: (*no legs, just baby snake lower half*)
Pigsy: "Not... there."
Baby MK: (*flickers little forked tongue out at Pigsy's face to smell him*)
Pigsy, trying to make light of the situation: "Either you're one of those indian snake things, or you're the second-biggest noodle I've ever seen."
Baby MK: (*big wide smile! Has no teeth other than two tiny fangs*)
One of the first things Pigsy had to teach MK was to chew his food and not unhinge his jaw willy-nilly. And to not drink things by dunking his whole face in it.
Tang was the unfortunate soul to discover that MK's particular snake species was a "crushing" type - when the baby had a nightmare while wrapped around his arm. He has a copy of the resulting x-rays to prove it. XD
Having a "snake-butt" as MK calls it can be annoying in modern day life, but he's got insane core-body strength as a side effect. Pigsy had to get a specially-designed vehicle before he could let his boy deliver noodles for the restaurant.
Still a super Monkey King fan too, he's still half-monkey after all. Now he just has a bonus appriciation for the story of White Snake. For a while as a child he thought he was the result of a snake-demon/human romance like what happened between Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian.
Snakes and dragons actually have some pretty big cultural tension between them in Chinese lore (snakes are considered "lesser dragons"), so the fact Snakey!MK and Mei would 100% still be besties would be seen as pretty unusual. But when did these two ever conform to societal expectations?
When MK inherits the Staff, Wukong quickly discovers that he can use his tail as a third limb for balance - allowing MK to pull off some pretty unique fight moves!
MK is still terrified of spiders. The fact that baby snakes eat them is besides the point. He'd also get a more serious reaction to LBD's icy powers since cold temperatures cause blinding headaches and loss of conciousness in snakes.
The Celestial Realm gets really nervous when they see that Wukong's successor is a half-snake for some reason. MK personally thinks Nezha's pink scales and horns are cool af.
